Our Story
Setting Up Skills for Inclusion
A Journey Towards True Inclusion in Education and Employment
Inclusion is more than representation; it’s about empowering individuals with the skills, opportunities, and confidence to thrive. Our founder’s journey to establish Skills for Inclusion began in the workplace, where she observed and experienced the realities of an industry that, while technically accessible to all genders, was marked by a glaring lack of equity. Women were under-represented in senior management positions, flexibility for caregivers was minimal, and pathways to recognised, accessible education and skills development were limited.
Over the years, this experience led to a profound realisation: many individuals are excluded not because of who they are, but because of the opportunities and essential skills they lack.

Our Founder
Our founder considered that her “second career” in the world of Sector Skills Councils deepened this understanding. She witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by learners with diverse needs—individuals left behind due to geographic isolation, economic barriers, and foundational skill gaps in literacy, numeracy, and, more recently, digital competencies.
Motivated to create change, Skills for Inclusion champions a vocational education model that can treat each learner as an individual. By prioritising accessible, learning and essential skill development, Skills for Inclusion aims to bridge these gaps, ensuring that individuals will have the tools they need to succeed and thrive.
